Beeswax hardens upon contact with the air and appears as a wax scale, which resembles a tree when viewed under a microscope.

Beekeepers use man-made hives to help bees build an internal structure in which they produce wax and store honey. Beeswax is secreted by worker bees aged 17 days or younger, and their wax glands atrophy when they start foraging. This sophisticated process yields a small amount of wax, reflective of a bee`s tireless task.

Beeswax is a natural, food-grade wax used to produce durable and high-quality products. It has a white color when freshly prepared and takes on a golden hue when mixed with pollen. White beeswax is produced by a pressure-filtration process involving yellow beeswax. This process removes the yellow pigments and other components responsible for the yellow color, as well as natural scent, resulting in a white color. White beeswax is composed of saturated hydrocarbons and a variety of esters, fats, and free acids with a melting point of up to 64°C. It has a malleable and hydrophobic consistency, making it useful for a range of applications. Though it lacks the yellow wax`s natural scent and color, it may be preferable for certain uses.

White beeswax is used in various industries to thicken, emulsify, and protect items like cosmetics, food, and candles. It can be used to make items like pillar candles and coatings for food, making them more visually appealing and increasing their shelf-life.
