How to Use

Using the 1 Gallon Feeder Pail is a breeze. Simply fill the top with sugar syrup, fit the lid on snugly, and slowly invert the pail until a vacuum is formed. Place it over the hole in the inner cover and add a deep hive body for protection against predators and wind. The bees will come up from the lid to eat, and any excess syrup will drip down.

For added nutrition, you can also add winter patties and hive alive fondant to the feeder. However, be sure not to use pollen patties before St. Patrick's Day in the spring, and only feed sugar syrup once the bees are flying regularly. During build-up in the spring, a 1:1 sugar syrup ratio is recommended, while a 2:1 ratio is best for fall feeding to signal the bees to store food for the winter.
