Apivar Strips 60 Pack

Reduce mite populations by 99% with Apivar Strips 60 Pack. It will treat varroa mite population effectively with this Amitraz-based medication. This 60 Pack is great for larger bee yards.

Ingredients: Amitraz 3.3%

We recommend two strips per brood box. Apivar works by contact. As the bees walk on the strip they pick up the chemical and deliver it throughout the colony.  These strips are not temperature resistant but you can't use it with honey supers on.

Treat all of your brood boxes per bee yard at the same time. This treatment is a slow release treatment and doesn't result in toxicity for the  bees.

Tips:  Do not use leather gloves when using this product. Instead use latex or nitrile gloves.

Directions:   Use one strip for every 5 frame of bees or 2 strips per 10 frame brood box. Leave treatment in for 42 days then remove. Sometimes due to propolis or to get strips closer to bees repositioning is recommended if this repositioning occurs you may leave strips in for an additional 14 days (total 56 days).

It is really important not to leave the strips in longer than the 56 days. This type of medication is really easy for the mites to become resistant to. Follow the label directions exactly to avoid this.
