Bee Hive Insulation Cedar Shake Top for Garden Hives

Made in Canada this cedar shake garden hive top cover is for use with all 10 frame length Roth hives. This hive will look nice in your home gardens and will keep the bees dry & warm. This top cover is available in unfinished or in cedar stain.

Why use a cedar top?

Cedar is a great choice for beehives since painting it isn't necessary like with pine, meaning you can get started faster. With the extra protection from nature due to its natural durability, cedar wood material should last longer than pine without any additional maintenance. However, treating the cedar wood with natural plant-based oil such as tung will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your hive. After treatment let your bee box dry and air out completely before installing it in order for maximum effectiveness.

Cedar is a great choice for honey bee hives because it is lighter than pine. While the weight difference isn't substantial, when dealing with multiple boxes or crates containing cedar hives this slight reduction makes it easier to ship and handle.

Cedar hive top is a great choice for hive tops  due to its stylish look and perfect for garden hives.. Also, it has been shown that cedar is much longer lasting than pine by almost triple.
