These VSH (Varroa Sensitive Hygiene) Russian Carnolian mated queens are vaccinated for American Foul Brood (AFB). Tauzer Apiaries is using Dalan Animal Health’s new CFIA approved AFB vaccine.

Russian Carnolians have the following traits:

hearty bees that over well in colder climates
takes advantage of higher nectar flows as they easily adapt to their environment
high propolis producers
moderate in honey production
vsh traits for varroa resistance
Strong hygienic behavoir

Dalan’s AFB vaccine protects against American Foulbrood Disease, a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects developing bee larvae.

The Dalan vaccine technology exposes queen bees to inactive (i.e., “dead”) bacteria, which enables the larvae hatched in the hive to resist infection. Dalan’s vaccine is a prophylactic solution protecting the world’s honeybees from deadly infectious diseases such as American Foulbrood.

This new tool is the first and only honeybee vaccine approved by the CFIA to help in the fight against AFB. The vaccine is safe, non-chemical, and suitable for use in organic agriculture.

Pick-up Information
Queens are required to be picked up the day of arrival (at the airport) or the very next day (at our warehouse) after harvest to optimize survival and to avoid forfeiture of the non-refundable livestock purchases.
