What is the difference between a brood box and a super?

In my experience, I can inform you that the brood box is the primary box containing the queen bee and the brood. It is separated from the rest of the boxes with a queen excluder on top. The supers are the additional boxes you add above the brood. The supers are the additional boxes placed above the brood box. Thus providing extra storage for the worker bees to store pollen and honey, making it a crucial part of the beehive.

Do you need two brood boxes?

A traditional starter beekeeping set includes two 9 1/2 inch ‘deep’ brood boxes and several 61/2 inch ‘medium’ honey supers. As the colony grows in its second year it my require up to 4 medium supers.

How long does it take bees to fill a brood box?
